Ultra-Resilient Portal Frame™ Makes Its Debut at CSCS Annual Conference

October 21–22, 2026, the Annual Conference of China Steel Construction Society (CSCS) was held at Parkview Hotel Taiyuan in Shanxi. As a co-organizer, OPEN Steel Structure Construction Group attended the event. The self-developed **Ultra-Resilient Portal Frame™** made its public debut at the conference and became one of the major highlights on site.
The conference drew more than 400 delegates from industry experts, steel structure enterprises and supporting suppliers across the country. A host of CAE academicians including Zhou Xuhong, Yue Qingrui, Li Guoqiang, Chen Zhengqing, Yu Zhiwu and Zeng Bin, as well as renowned experts such as Yu Yinquan, Zhou Jianlong, Zhu Zhongyi and Fan Zhong, attended the event. Several academicians and experts delivered keynote presentations.
Inside and outside the venue, several senior industry experts showed great interest in OPEN’s product. During the break, Academician Yue Qingrui, Vice President Zhou Jianting and Expert Yu Yinquan discussed the Ultra-Resilient Portal Frame™, expressing strong support for and close attention to this innovative product.
A small exhibition area was set up at the conference, where many enterprises showcased their distinctive products throughout the event. At the OPEN booth, a modest demo piece attracted the longest stops: a segment of conventional H-section steel and a section of the European-style beam profile placed side by side for visitors to test its torsional resistance firsthand. Many peers were surprised after trying it — the torsional performance of the European-style beam far exceeds that of conventional H-section steel. The poster on the booth wall bore just four words: Twist it, Ultra-Resilient Portal Frame™.
OPEN Chairman Chen Ming invited the attending academicians and distinguished experts to the booth for on-site trials. Academician Zeng Bin (Chinese Academy of Engineering, President of China Steel Construction Society), Academicians Zhou Xuhong, Yue Qingrui and Yu Zhiwu, National Engineering Survey and Design Master Yu Yinquan, together with Professors Han Linhai, Zhang Ailin, Shu Ganping, Guo Lanhui, Masters Zhu Zhongyi and Lou Yu, and Professor Wang Rui, visited the booth one after another for experience and exchanges.
He Mingxuan, Senior Expert of China Baowu Steel Group and Vice President of China Steel Construction Society, also visited the booth for exchanges. Viewing steel structures from the perspective of steel production, he showed great interest in the section efficiency of the Ultra-Resilient beam.

This marks the first public appearance of the Ultra-Resilient Portal Frame™ at an industry conference. Following the event, several interested enterprises have invited OPEN for further discussions.
The two-day conference came to an end quickly. The 2026 Steel Structure Industry Development Blue Paper was released at the event, featuring several noteworthy figures: China’s steel output reached 960 million tons, of which 107 million tons were consumed by the steel structure sector, accounting for 11.4%. Steel structures in China are drawing growing attention from the steel industry.
Of the 107 million tons, 65% are used for building steel structures, and 56% of that volume goes to factory steel structures. This is exactly the segment where OPEN focuses. Put in perspective, roughly 36% — nearly 40 million tons — of the steel is used for industrial workshops. It represents a huge market, meaning OPEN can explore new growth opportunities in the incremental market while capturing opportunities from the existing stock market.
The Ultra-Resilient Portal Frame™ enjoys promising prospects. OPEN is ready to promote it actively together with the industry association. We also hope to join hands with more peers to foster sound development, jointly create value for customers and deliver value for ourselves.
