Aluminum has been used in the construction industry for over a century. Initially, it was primarily used as a decorative building material, such as for window frames, glass curtain wall frameworks, exterior aluminum cladding, and standing seam roofing systems. In the 1930s, aluminum alloys began to be used in load-bearing and maintenance structures of buildings. Today, aluminum alloys have become the second most widely used metal material in construction, after steel, with approximately 27% of the world's annual aluminum production being used in the construction sector. The use of aluminum alloys as a load-bearing structural material is increasingly prevalent in various applications, including bridges, storage facilities, and space structures.
